I just finished reading your blog thus far, and, I have to say, I'm amazed. I have been planning on making femshep armour out of EVA foam, and this is truly inspiring. I wish I had the resources and patience to do this. You guys are awesome, and you're pretty much a shoo-in for that contest. Good luck, and keep up the amazing work! :)
Thank you so much Ashley! We really appreciate the feedback and compliments. We have been working very hard on the costume and have high hopes for it. -Getting into crunch time now. -I was excited to read that you are planning a costume as well. There are a LOT of people who have done fantastic work with EVA who we took inspiration from. We can refer you to some good people if you like. Good luck! -Zoot
That would be awesome! :) I've been looking at Evil FX's blog for inspiration, do you know of any others? Also, I could use some help choosing materials... I'm kind of new to this whole thing. ;P I think the most daunting part of it all is the space boobs. I just don't know how to go about it. I like your idea of the chest protector, but I don't know where to find one of those... Any tips?
We also gained inspiration from Evil FX blog, he does incredible work. I would also recommend checking out "Voplin Props" http://volpinprops.blogspot.com/2010/09/n7-armor-dragoncon-2010-recap.html The chest plate is definitely a difficult one for the ladies. Evil FX has a good method to build it yourself. If you would rather buy a base-layer you can Google "Fencing Chest protector", you should get a lot of results. As far as materials, most armor builds we have seen start with EVA foam (floor mats). Its a good material to carve, sculpt and sand and it can look very realistic.
